What is Max phase material?

Max-phase materials are a new type of machinable ceramic materials that have received extensive attention. Due to the metal-like bonding properties of the Max phase, it has the function of conducting electricity and heat. Most MAX phase materials have good electrical and thermal conductivity. This also has to do with electronic structure.

MAX phase (including Ti3SiC2, Ti2AlC, etc.) is a new type of machinable ceramic material that has attracted much attention.

Applications of Max phase materials

Max-phase materials are widely used in high-temperature structural materials, electrode brush materials, chemical anti-corrosion materials and high-temperature heating materials. Due to the unique nano-layered crystal structure, the MAX phase material is self-lubricating, has high toughness and electrical conductivity.
